Make Black Umbrella Design in Photoshop

In this tutorial of drawing I will let you know the method of making umbrella in Photoshop which you can use as in different areas like as an icon, for web image, and art galleries etc. I will emphasize on uncomplicated and excellent techniques on drawing elements in Photoshop. Most of design parts will be done using layer styles like shading and coloring. You can modify colors and other details after completion once according to your need and requirement. You will see here excellent use of Pen Tool and other. Most of elements can drawn of this graphic exactly various shapes and selection methods.



Step 1:


Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 800×600 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with #2B2B2B color shade. Now make a new layer set and name it 'Handle'. In a new layer, draw a brown circle with #762918 color shade and 47 x 47 px dimensions. Then go to Select > Loaded Selection, apply default settings. Then go back to Select > Modify > Contract, set the contract by setting to 6 px and apply. Delete the marquee selection, and erase the top section of the ring shape as shown below.



Step 2:


In a new layer, draw a brown vertical rounded rectangle with #762918 color shade and 7 x 44 px dimensions. Position the brown rounded rectangle with the cut out ring shape.



Step 3:


Highlight the 'Handle' layer set on the Layers Window, then go to Layer > Merge Layer Set. Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the handle layer.

Step 4:


Make a new layer set and name it 'Umbrella Design'. Then place the Handle layer inside the new layer set. In a new layer, draw a thin vertical rectangle with #BDBDBD color shade and 5 x 138 px dimensions.



Step 5:


Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Satin, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the thin vertical rectangle layer.

Step 6:


In a new layer, draw a small light gray circle with #BDBDBD color shade.



Step 7:


Select the Pen Tool, on the Options bar, activate Paths. Set the foreground color to #666666 color shade. Now create an open umbrella paths as shown below, then right click on the canvas and select Fill Path, use the settings below.



Step 8:


Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow blending option to the umbrella shape layer.

Step 9:


Select the Pen Tool, set the brush to 1 px hard brush. Then set the foreground color to black. Create a new layer, using the Pen Tool create the bend line path shown below and stroke path.



Step 10:


Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow blending option to the black bent line layer.

Step 11:


Duplicate the bend line and flip it Horizontal through Edit > Transform. Then in a new layer, draw a black ellipse with 104 x 57 px dimensions.



Step 12:


Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow blending option to the black ellipse layer. Then set the layer's blending mode to Lighten.

Step 13:


In a new layer, draw a small dark gray ellipse with #585858 color shade on top of the umbrella. Then in a new layer, draw a small vertical rectangle with #BDBDBD color shade.




Step 14:


Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the small vertical rectangle layer.

Step 15:


Highlight the 'Umbrella' layer set, then go to Layer > Merge Layer Set. Your layer set should turn into a regular layer named Umbrella. Now go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.



Step 16:


Duplicate the Umbrella design layer, then apply a Plastic Wrap effect through Filter > Artistic, use the settings below.

Step 17:


With the duplicate umbrella layer, set the layer's blending mode to Color Burn.
